Last minute trip to Coloma to get away on a Saturday

Tim tried using the timer on our camera for the first time and it worked pretty good. Tim had to leap across the water to get to the rock just in time and I'm amazed it worked out.

We hiked up to the James Marshall monument and this is a view of the Coloma Valley, beautiful huh?

The boys were so curious poking at the sea anemoni's and touching the star fish. This poor little crab was close to death so it was easy to grab him.

About a half hour later we were all wandering on the rocks pretty close to the water and all of a sudden an elephant seal pops his head up and stares at us. One of Casey and AnnaMarie's daughters was 10 feet away from it and was "encouraged" to run away when it started bumping it's chest against the rocks like it wanted to get out of the water. I guess they can be aggressive Tim tells us and by law you're supposed to stay about 100 feet away from them. I guess you can't help it when they come to see you. It was so cool seeing this huge wild creature so close.

Mathias had a lion costume that I thought would have gone together a little more with Jared's costume but Mathias insisted on wearing last years dolphin one. The head barely fit that when he lifted his head it squished the corner of his eyes down. You guys looked great though, Mommy and her funny ideas.

Tim ran 12,500 lbs. of rock in wheelbarrow loads up a ramp in the first five hours of work today. You've still got it, Superman.

I was so impressed with our Captain Tim, he took this $2 boat from Wal-Mart and rigged up a sail and working jib, keel, and working rudder. Nice job, the bathtub was filled twice that night to make sure it worked. Good times.

BIG moth, I was proud of the boys for not being scared to touch it. Jared wanted to take it inside and keep it forever. I do have my limits.

Our first kayaking trip to Negro Bar. Jared did great, he was paddling like a pro. Mathias, just hung on.

We went up to Camino on Sunday to have dinner with the fam and let the boys have a sleepover. Mathias disappeared shortly after we arrived and was finally found sneaking skittles in Grandmary's piano room with the door closed, the lights off and he closed his eyes when Daddy came in so nobody would find him

Tim felt like rigging up a harness and putting Jared in it one night then we did a human zip line across the house (Tim and I were acting as the trees). It didn't last too long, 32 year old humans were never meant to be trees.

Jared learmed how to "pop" in his gymnastics class and practices on Mathias every chance he gets

Master and Commander

Daddy took Jared and Mathias out on the boat for the first time. They all had a blast. Jared just looks like a little natural. Too bad he almost tiped the boat. That was fun. Mathias had fun too but I think he got a little lake sick, he was a little cling-on for most of the trip.

Jared really wanted a car cake for his birthday so I gave it a shot. I think there was more frosting than cake on this thing. It took about 2 and a half hours to do but it was worth it. Jared just loved it.

Jelly Belly Trip

What a fun trip this was with Anna and her kids. The best part was the samples at the end. I wasn't brave enough to try vomit.

A couple weeks before Jared was 4 years old he surprised us by teaching himself how to ride a bike "without training wheels". He had been practicing on our front porch and in the house (when mommy was feeling lenient) for a few days by himself and with a little instruction from mom and dad he just took off one day. We took him to the church parking lot and let him loose. It is still by far his favorite thing to do.

While the big kids went and hid all the eggs, the little kids did crafts and iced cookies.

I couldn't get over the same little curl in the corner of their mouths. Jared was a little dissapointed when I said he had to take a break from eating his candy.

I've been walking most mornings with Phani Morgan around the Stake Center parking lot. These are her girls. Aren't they soo cute? It's fun having girls around.

If we had really squished we could have fit Mathias but he didn't want to go in, and someone had to take the picture. I acutally managed to stay dry this trip.

Sailing is Tim's new hobby. The brothers got together and bought a boat for next to nothing and have had so much fun with it. We havn't been in much wind yet but were're hoping to be experienced sailors soon.

Bumps and Bruises

This time it was the corner of the bed frame. But he still is such a happy little guy.

Boy's will be boys. The bathroom door jam attacked Mathias this time.

Jared is my little helper in the kitchen, he runs whenever he hears the pots and pans clanking and he loves to stir.
